What do you think? Is love an emotion, or something else?

Love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure. For instance, this range of meanings is that the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love of food. Most commonly, love refers to a feeling of a strong attraction and emotional attachment.

Considering all these in mind Ruditya has curated the following quotes…

Love and hatred go hand in hand. When I act according to your liking and will, ignoring or suppressing my likes and dislikes you like me or love me. Moments I prefer my desires you start hating me.

As per me, it is always good to give preference to our liking over others, and I call it self-love.

better hated than love

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.
Andre Gide

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), marriage is positively correlated with well-being. Perhaps more telling was the finding that people who consider their spouse their best friend is twice as satisfied in their marriages as other people. “What immediately intrigued me about the results was to rethink marriage as a whole,” researcher John F. Helliwell said. “Maybe what is important is friendship, and to never forget that in the push and pull of daily life.”

It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.
Friedrich Nietzsche

It doesn't matter how powerful you are. All you need is the courage to fight the odds in life to survive. The deeper you are in love, the more courageous you become. The courage fuelled by deep love gives you the strength to traverse through the valleys and hills of life.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Lao Tzu

LOVE is CUPID is a well-established fact, but do we know why he is attributed as such. Ancient mythology depicts him as the son of the Goddess of Love, VENUS. Cupid is winged, allegedly because lovers are flighty and likely to change their minds, and boyish because love is irrational. His symbols are the arrow and torch, "because of love wounds and inflame the heart." Cupid is also sometimes depicted blindfolded and described as blind; a person in love is less dependent on sight than on their mind. This depiction we find in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged cupid painted blind.
William Shakespeare

A person in love is happy, but that happiness is not of his or her but of the partner. Yes, it is an emotion in which a partner’s happiness is given due importance to their own. Like a mother, she kept aside her recreations when she saw her child was unhappy. She addresses her child’s issue first; after that, if time permits, she goes back to her happiness.

Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
Robert A. Heinlein
